Bush prepares new Mideast plan

WASHINGTON -- Members of Congress and Palestinian leaders today questioned President Bush's plan for an interim Palestinian state and urged stepped-up U.S. peacemaking efforts as Bush prepares to announce his Mideast blueprint. Bush and his advisers talked over the weekend about the details and timing of a long-awaited speech outlining his ideas. White House officials said they tentatively plan the address for tomorrow afternoon, but events on the ground could force a change again. Some aides want to see the president deliver it before he leaves Tuesday for the three-day G-8 summit in Canada.
