Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem

Toxic hybrid

The hybridization of the uber-marketable, widely beloved and multimillion-dollar film franchises of “Alien” and “Predator” has produced lackluster, albeit entertaining, results. The end products have been two movies that fall far short of the achievements of their predecessors – two pillars of modern science-fiction cinema.

Every time a person uses cash, the phrase “In God We Trust” consciously or subconsciously enters his or her psyche. This is because the words, however small the printing, are on all United States currency. The phrase recently entered our fields of vision more often, though, evidenced by the 1.6 million Indiana license plates with the saying.

Celebrating more than 50 years of faith

More than 50 years ago, Frank and Daisy Beck returned to IU, their alma mater, with the goal of fulfilling one of the campus’ greatest needs: a small chapel. The IU Chapel, Frank Beck’s initial name for the building, would sit nestled between the family burial ground of George Dunn and the Jordan River because, as he wrote in a chapel newsletter, no man can love IU without loving the Jordan River.
