Bush aims to build coalition on China trip

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- President George W. Bush headed to a summit in China to strengthen the coalition behind his war on terrorism Wednesday and said the United States was "supported by the conscience of the world." "We are not alone in this struggle," said Bush, preparing to join world leaders at a 21-nation economic conference in Shanghai. There, Bush will hold talks with Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and South Korean President Kim Dae-jung.

Relief money stolen

Money intended to help the relief efforts of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks was reported stolen from the offices of the IU Student Association Friday afternoon. The money had been collected during a fundraiser for the Red Cross and other charities. It was counted Oct. 9, put in an envelope and locked in a file cabinet at IUSA's offices in the Student Activities Tower of the Indiana Memorial Union, IUSA President Jake Oakman, a senior, said. Sometime between Tuesday and Friday, $1,300 disappeared, he said.

Team returns to Top 25 in nation

The men's cross country team showed promise in the Pre-National meet in South Carolina this weekend, finishing 11th out of 34 teams. In doing so, the team beat several ranked opponents.
