Needing Rush of kindness

·

Last week, radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh announced on his program that he is addicted to prescription pain pills. Limbaugh began taking pain pills after surgery in the 1990s and has since become addicted.

That's what it's there for

·

OK, I admit in hindsight there were a few (20 or 30) times a few weeks ago when I really should have just swallowed my pride, gotten over my fears and gone to the IU Health Center. I had what appeared to be a cold or a dead fish caught in my sinus cavity or something. I don't really know. I get sick easily in autumn, because I have seasonal allergies and the actual germs sneak into me.

Overcoming racism by teaching

·

Three years ago, IU's Bloomington campus teamed with IU-Northwest Gary and IU-Purdue University at Indianapolis as well as two universities in Michigan and Wisconsin to initiate the Interracial Communication Project.

Transferring the skills

·

Last February, freshman Daryl Pegram of the IU men's basketball team decided to transfer to another school once the spring semester had ended. Pegram had played in only two of the team's 21 games due to knee problems. IU coach Mike Davis said he respected his decision and wished him the best.

Givin' it up for the high school set

·

Think trucker hats, crowd surfing and an average attendee age of 15. Yep, it's an All-American Rejects concert. AAR, along with special guests Hoobastank, Ozomatli and Diffuser, performed Saturday at the Murat Egyptian Room as part of the Nokia Unwired Tour 2003.

STIMULI a sexual stimulus

·

What do sexual fantasies, thousands of condoms and a costume contest have in common? They'll all be offered at STIMULI, an erotic attire event where people can divulge in a liberating and informative atmosphere about sexuality and sensuality.

Many bands still Young at heart

·

Maybe it's just natural to see things through the prism that you want to see. If the only band one has ever heard is the Beatles, then a lot of what one listens to thereafter will sound inferior. If the only band one has ever heard is Limp Bizkit, then one probably will never want to listen to rock music again.

The Fire Theft keeps it Real

·

Anyone who claims to be an underground music fan from the mid-'90s until the present is likely to have heard of Sunny Day Real Estate. Whether the association with them is based on their formal connections to the Foo Fighters or with the actual music itself (Sunny Day released the definitive emo album of the '90s, 1994's Diary), these guys will undoubtedly go down as a band to anticipate for years to come.

Death Cab's indie rocks 'trans'forms listeners

·

Death Cab For Cutie has an uncanny knack for writing (and I hate to use this word) cute, perfect little indie pop songs. Through four albums, they never stray too far from their formula, but expand enough each time to keep the music fresh.

No one will cry when this dog is put down

·

Somebody should put this dog to sleep. Good Boy! is a story of essentially one joke repeated in as many ways as possible. When Owen (Liam Aiken) gains the ability to understand dogs, viewers get let in to every single possible dog joke and pun imaginable. Guess what? Poodles are snooty and prissy. Also, those tiny little wiener dogs? Yeah they're nervous.

'Cruelty' belongs in the Clooney bin

·

Intolerable Cruelty centers around a matrimonial lawyer named Miles Massey, played by George Clooney, and a man-eating wife named Marilyn Rexroth, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Back in 'Stereo' after death

·

An Instant O In The Universe, Stereolab's first release since the passing of bandmate Mary Hansen, the band creates an EP that, to be honest, falls a little flat. There are a huge amount of good things that can be said about the record, however.

I see dead people, and they suck

·

I want this hour and a half of my life back. Sadly, we can't always have what we want. Instead I'd like to propose everyone avoid this movie like the wretched cinematic toilet paper stain it is.

Ludacris needs mouf-to-mouf resuscitation

·

Ludacris went all out with the chicken and beer theme for his newest album. The CD is wrapped in plastic that resembles a dirty South tub of chicken. The actual CD jacket lists the songs under "Nutrition Facts."
