Deputy prime minister says Iraqi elections must go ahead

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Iraq's deputy prime minister said holding elections in January will be "a serious challenge," but Sunday he insisted they must go ahead as scheduled. As part of the effort to address security concerns, U.S. troops and Iraqi paramilitary police arrested 43 suspected insurgents in the northern city of Mosul, the military said.

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Purdue University fans cheered their football team to a win Saturday during the Old Oaken Bucket game, but they also erupted in applause between the third and fourth quarters after the announcement that Purdue won the "IU vs. Purdue Blood Donor Challenge" by 182 pints.

WEST LAFAYETTE -- The Hoosier football team suffered a spanking in the Old Oaken Bucket game Saturday as IU gave up 763 yards of total offense in a 63-24 thrashing at the hands of arch-rival Purdue. With the loss, the Hoosiers end a disappointing 2004 campaign at 3-8 and 1-7 in the Big Ten.

Repeat championship run starts against Michigan

Tudor Room to hold Thanksgiving feast The Indiana Memorial Union's Tudor Room is busy preparing for its typically sold-out, famous Thanksgiving meal. For $19.95, guests can feast on turkey, pilgrim pumpkin chowder, dilled smashed red potatoes, caramel apple pie and more. Dorm residents struggle with healthy eating habits

As the manager of the Willkie C-Store, Sandy Porter sees firsthand the choices students make about what to eat. For the majority of students, these choices are not always the healthiest, she said. "(Students) don't always purchase the healthiest or low-fat options," Porter said.

Live fire arts show lights up Collins

It was OK to play with fire in the Collins Living Learning Center Courtyard this weekend. The IU women's cross country team will be planning to run as hard as the solid November ground tonight in Terre Haute at the NCAA Championships. "I just want them to cross the finish line and have nothing left at all," said IU coach Judy Wilson. "Championships call for championship performances."

Depending on when you read this, the IU men's cross country team might have finished its season in grand fashion. Scheduled for just after noon today, the No. 10 ranked Hoosiers will compete in the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute.
