Field hockey ready for tough games this weekend

This weekend, the IU field hockey team will face its toughest challenge so far this season when it welcomes two top-15 teams to Bloomington. The Hoosiers will face No. 12 Ohio at 3 p.m. today and No. 5 Wake Forest at 1 p.m. Sunday at the IU field hockey field.

How many Indiana Hoosiers does it take to put together a consistent running game? The answer is a lot more complex than the light bulb version of that question. Not every Hoosier team can have an Anthony Thompson or Antwaan Randle El, so many teams find themselves turning to the running-back-by-committee approach.

Volleyball team set to play 1st fall home games

The IU volleyball team will finally debut at home this weekend when it hosts the IU adidas Classic this Friday and Saturday. The team comes into this weekend’s play riding a tournament win last weekend at the Valparaiso Popcorn Classic in Valparaiso, Ind. It was IU’s first tournament win after two second-place finishes in previous tournaments this season.

‘Snitty’ likely shoo-in dictionary word

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The year was 1989, and “snitty” started off strong. The word popped up in the Los Angeles Times in January, then appeared in the March and August editions of People magazine.

New Bloomingfoods opens on 6th Street

Saturday’s grand opening of Bloomingfoods’ newest location will be accompanied by day-long festivities including a 5k race, poetry reading and block party. The new branch of the cooperative grocery store, which promotes local, organic food, is located at 316 W. Sixth St.
