Kirkwood out, Big Red in

The IU Student Association Supreme Court disqualified the election-winning Kirkwood ticket from the 2008 IUSA Elections on Tuesday afternoon, giving way for the Big Red ticket to take office April 28. After 48 hours of deliberation, the IUSA Supreme Court found Kirkwood in violation of six election codes.

42 honored at annual SRSA banquet

The Student Recreational Sports Association held its annual honors banquet last Tuesday in Alumni Hall at the Indiana Memorial Union. The banquet, organized and run by the SRSA student executive board, recognized outstanding achievements of IU volunteers, participants and student employees of Campus Recreational Sports.

IU communications class to host free bingo night

Amid the shouting of “B-9,” “N-35” and “O-72,” Bloomington community members will have the chance to play bingo for free tonight at an event sponsored by IU’s business and interpersonal communications class. The children of the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington will be listening for these numbers from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Boys and Girls Club, located at 311 S. Lincoln St.

Students discover archeological site

Wading through the fickle weather this weekend, a group of about 20 students from an IU anthropology class searched for archeological artifacts in Bloomington, finding evidence of a prehistoric campsite, said Cheryl Munson, an assistant scientist in the IU Anthropology Department.

Students stop talking, start walking

The National Day of Silence at IU will be commemorated on campus today. The event, in which participants take a vow of silence for all or part of the day, is meant to bring attention to how people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transsexual often feel overlooked and silenced because they are different.
