21 teams ready to compete in IU Sing

Twenty-one teams will compete in the 77th IU Sing, sponsored by the IU Student Foundation, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the IU Auditorium. Of the teams competing, 19 are paired fraternities and sororities. The other two teams are from the Korean Student Association and the Christian Student Fellowship.

Student teachers have opportunity to expand horizons

When many future teachers graduate from college, they try to find jobs in areas that they are familiar with, such as their hometowns, but a program in the School of Education is hoping to change that. The Cultural Immersion Projects is a way for students to do their student teaching in places that are likely different from where they are from, said Laura Stachowski, Cultural Immersion Projects director.

‘Rock on Rach’ honors IU student

Guests filled Rachael’s Cafe on Thursday night for “Rock on Rach,” a benefit concert in remembrance of Rachel DiPietro-James, an IU student who died last February.Within an hour and a half, friends of DiPietro-James raised $500 in her honor.

Club informs students of global markets

After taking BUS-G255: Emerging Economies, junior Calvin Dong decided to take the class one step further by creating the Emerging Markets Club. Dong, a finance and accounting major and president of the club, took G255 during spring 2008. The class focused on countries with developing economies and led students on a spring break trip to one of four countries. Dong traveled to China, and when he returned, he and several classmates decided to start the club.
