Dambisa Moyo’s new book “Dead Aid” challenges the Western history of sending aid to Africa. Building off the tradition of William Easterly’s “The White Man’s Burden,” Moyo criticizes celebrities who portray Africa as a desolate child in desperate need of saving.

Each button on a cell phone makes something happen. We type a phrase or word into a search engine and automatically have access to more information than any encyclopedia could provide. The sensation of our fingertips on the screen of our iPod touch or Blackberry Storm orchestrates music, phone calls and Internet use.

Castrating repeat sex offenders?

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal signed legislation last year requiring courts to order chemical castration for certain sex offenders convicted a second time. Texas, Florida and California allow or mandate chemical castration in certain circumstances.




IU wins 59-57 in final seconds

Senior Whitney Thomas put her volleyball skills to good use on the basketball court on Sunday.  Thomas tipped in a half court inbounds pass from senior Kim Roberson with .2 seconds left to give the Hoosiers (20-10) a 59-57 victory against Dayton (21-14) in the second round of the WNIT on Sunday at Assembly Hall.

Gibbs: Deficit won't hurt plan to cut red ink

WASHINGTON — The White House says new projections of spiraling budget deficits won't stop President Barack Obama from achieving his goals or keeping his promise to cut the country's red ink in half within four years.

Loukas takes silver in championships

Senior Christina Loukas opened her final NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships by taking second place in the one-meter springboard.
