NBA looks to tighten drug testing policy following hearing

WASHINGTON -- The NBA wants to kick players out of the league for a third failed steroid test and double the punishment for a first offense, commissioner David Stern told a House panel Wednesday, the latest example of a professional sport moving to tighten its drug policy in the face of congressional scrutiny.

I was shocked to see a column in the May 12 IDS by Mr. Glenesk titled "To the remaining, b-ware." This column is highly offensive to those of us who are considered "townies."

IU policy on Benton Mural is hypocritical

I disagree with some of President Herbert's opinions in regard to the Benton mural in Woodburn 100. First off, I do agree that the mural serves as a reminder of the KKK and the atrocities they caused.

Bloomington 'townies' were misrepresented

I am writing in response to Matt Glenesk's May 12 column, entitled "To the remaining, b-ware." As a senior at IU as well as a so-called "townie," I am extremely offended by the elitism offered by Mr. Glenesk.

Summer SRSC fee is only fair

The SRSC and HPER have always charged students a membership fee for the summer. But paying this fee isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Men's track finishes second at Big Tens

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Big Ten Outdoor Track Championships provided plenty of highlights and excitement for Hoosier fans as IU athletes brought home a number of individual titles and a large number of top finishes.

Hoosier rowers finish 9th at Regionals

IU capped off the season in style Sunday at the Aramark South/Central Region Sprints on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn. All four Hoosiers boats not only lined up in the petite finals but also gained 187 points to clinch seventh out of 11 teams in the Central Region and ninth out of 21 squads in the overall standings.

IU, city offer support for base

IU President Adam Herbert pledged IU would help recoup job losses as the Pentagon proposed to cut back workers at Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center. The base is located 30 miles southwest of Bloomington.

Robbery reported at ATO fraternity

Alpha Tau Omega fraternity on 720 East 3rd Street was once again the scene of a crime, currently under the investigation of the IU Police Department.
