SAE works toward charter, new house

Sigma Alpha Epsilon wanted to rebuild a house and a chapter on campus. But they had to get rid of their old house first, said SAE President Ronak Desai. Demolition on the old Sigma Alpha Epsilon house began on Sept. 10 and is scheduled to finish Friday. Desai said the “eyesore” will be replaced by “a modern house with all the modern amenities,” including Wi-fi internet access and more individual rooms.

Dole recalls bagged salad possibly tainted by E. coli

Dole announced an international recall of all Dole Hearts Delight bagged salad Monday, almost exactly a year after the spinach recall. A bag of the salad was found to contain E. coli through random screening at a grocery store in Canada, according to a press release from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

IU ticket prices rise

We’re all about equal rights – for men, women, minorities, religious groups, etc. But every once in a while an issue pops up that just reeks of overzealous political correctness to the point of complete and utter absurdity. A decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit upheld the College of Staten Island’s right to deny official recognition to an all male fraternity because it doesn’t allow women.

Campus bus given $5k makeover, red paint job

The new IU bus that was unveiled Monday by WFIU and WTIU managers is sure to turn some heads around campus. The bus was plucked from its ordinary campus route and given an approximately $5,000 makeover. It was painted bright crimson and now has campus radio and television announcements on each side. It made its debut in front of the Radio and Television building before being ordered back to its regular duties Monday afternoon.
