IU President Michael McRobbie awarded world-renowned operatic soprano and former IU voice professor Camilla Williams and Clement J. McDonald, distinguished professor emeritus and a pioneer in electronic medical record systems, with the President's Medal for Excellence on Friday, Sept. 4 in Indianapolis.

Obama to address students nationwide

Today at noon, President Barack Obama will address students around the nation about the importance of their education. The speech will be aired live on C-SPAN and the White House Web site.

University prepares for possible H1N1 outbreak

Although H1N1 is less serious than SARS at this point, IU is preparing for the worst. Before the start of school, Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson sent out guidelines to faculty, urging them to prepare for an onset of the H1N1 virus.






Oladipo says God led him to IU

Victor Oladipo was praying for a sign before he came to IU for his official visit Thursday. Luckily for IU men’s basketball coach Tom Crean and his staff, he got several.

Students who are accepted into Penn State University’s prestigious honors college get more than academic feathers in their caps. They get $3,500 annual merit scholarships.

Judge: No flogging for female trouser-wearing journalist in Sudan

A woman journalist was convicted Monday of public indecency for wearing trousers but was spared a sentence of flogging. A defiant Lubna Hussein said she would not pay a $200 fine and would take a month in prison instead to protest Sudan’s draconian morality laws.
