Obama to address students nationwide

Today at noon, President Barack Obama will address students around the nation about the importance of their education.

The speech will be aired live on C-SPAN and the White House Web site.

The speech, which has been released to the public days in advance, encourages students to study, stay in school and work hard to earn a well-paying job.

Obama’s talk has been looked at as controversial, and people have been accusing him of trying to pitch his arguments too strongly in a local-education setting, according to an AP report.

Rogers and Binford Elementary Schools in Monroe County said the address will be set up in specific areas of the school and students will be allowed to watch the address.

For more information on the speech and response from area schools, see Wednesday’s print edition of the IDS.
