·

PITTSBURGH -- The way the Chicago Cubs' offense is going, they would have waited all day and night to get a victory -- and, for a while, it seemed they would do exactly that.

IU, Michigan dominate

·

Four Hoosiers cracked the individual top 10 at the Hawkeye Invitational, but it wasn't enough to overcome the dominating play of Michigan. Students recognized for work

·

The IU Student Employment Office recognized student workers both on and off-campus last week with its annual Student Employment Awareness Week. The week was intended to increase public recognition of student employment by recognizing and thanking both students who work and their employers for providing them with job opportunities. Although Student Employment Awareness Week started about 15 years ago, it wasn't nationally recognized until 1990.

We want the folk

·

Folk music, despite what its detractors might have said in the past, has managed to survive, and Peter, Paul and Mary are among the proof of this. Their show at the IU Auditorium Friday night was an enjoyable experience on the whole, and showed that even after 40-odd years, folk music still can draw a crowd.

'Parade' well worth your time

·

I must admit, I am probably not the person to write a thoughtful, unbiased review of "Parade." Why, you might ask? Because I adore the show with every fiber of my being. I love it. I love the way the music gets under your skin and brings goose bumps to the surface. I love the message and the passion that went into the storytelling. The show is so wonderful because it is so real. So obviously there is no way I could not recommend this, the final production of the Department of Theatre and Drama's 2001-2002 season.

Enough with the fire alarms

·

When I started to write this column, I was originally going to write a commentary on the ever-recurring violence in the Israeli-Palestinian area and why both sides need to learn to live with each other. After some thought and some sleep; however, I happened to come across a more poignant problem closer to home.
