South stays undefeated on season

The gymnasium at Bloomington High School South was filled Saturday afternoon for a contest between No. 4 Detroit Country Day and No. 5 South. For most of the crowd, they got what they paid for: a 73-67 win by the hometown Panthers.

Purdue's quick start dooms Hoosiers

The Hoosiers (6-20, 1-13) did their best to make Saturday's match with Purdue a close one, but weren’t able to overcome an early deficit and the hot shooting of E’Twaun Moore, losing to the No. 19 Boilermakers, 81-67.

No rival upset coming for Hoosiers

Perhaps the only thing that made this season of struggle worse for IU basketball fans was the preseason prediction that put hated Purdue atop the Big Ten at year’s end. Worse yet, Robbie Hummel, recipient of many Kelvin Sampson phone calls, was preseason player of the year.

There was a time when most basketball-loving kids in Bloomington wanted to “be like Mike” – Michael Jordan, that is. Now it is another Jordan many in town are looking up to: Bloomington High School South point guard Jordan Hulls.



Badgers top Hoosiers, 68-51

Wisconsin methodically picked away at the Hoosiers after halftime, limiting IU to 21 second-half points en route to a 68-51 victory. “They played like a veteran club, and we played like a bunch of rookies. That’s the bottom line," IU coach Tom Crean said

21 teams ready to compete in IU Sing

Twenty-one teams will compete in the 77th IU Sing, sponsored by the IU Student Foundation, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the IU Auditorium. Of the teams competing, 19 are paired fraternities and sororities. The other two teams are from the Korean Student Association and the Christian Student Fellowship.

Angelou to speak at IU Auditorium

Maya Angelou, legendary poet and author, will make an appearance at 7 p.m. March 1 at the IU Auditorium. The program will be one of the signature events of ArtsWeek.
