Bloomington’s crazy weather still has us walking around campus wearing winter jackets in the middle of April. And although jackets should be a staple item in everyone’s wardrobe, I think we are all ready to trade them in for some spring and summer gear.

Theatre group to launch ‘Project E’ at the Waldron

Though Euripides has been dead for thousands of years, the ancient Greek’s plays live on in productions like the Theatre of the People’s upcoming “Double Feature of Beauty Betrayed,” according to a press release. The aptly-titled play will feature their versions of the classics “Medea” and “The Trojan Women.”


Trombonists Heather Gibson, Simon Wood and Russell Ballenger practice for Big Band Extravaganza on April 15 in the Jacobs School of Music. Brent Wallarab, leader of this group, and David Baker will showcase their bands at 8 p.m. at the Musical Arts Center.

Take timeless, accessible dance music performed by two IU student big bands and add two distinguished professional vocalists and two accomplished Jacobs School of Music jazzmen.


Store employee Brett Hayden stocks inventory Wednesday afternoon inside Tracks Music & Videos at 415 E. Kirkwood Ave. Hayden said the store began selling clothing in addition to music in an effort to keep the store afloat in a time of declining CD sales.

Tracks cleans up shop, adapts to changing times

Over the years, small businesses on Kirkwood Avenue have been replaced by more commercialized venues. But Tracks, locally owned and in business for 21 years, has evaded this trend and continues to sell old records, new and used CDs and DVDs and local bands’ music.Recently, the small music store began renovations to help customers have a more satisfying experience, manager Andy Walter said.

Police investigating death of Freddie Mac official

WASHINGTON – David Kellermann, the acting chief financial officer of mortgage giant Freddie Mac, was found dead at his home Wednesday morning in what police said was an apparent suicide.

The IU baseball team was unable to hold onto an 8-3 lead against Louisville on Tuesday, falling 10-8 to the Cardinals. The loss was the Hoosiers' second to Louisville in the month of April.

Graduates flocking to service programs

With the economy mired by a recession, more college graduates are turning to service organizations for post-graduate work. Nationally there has been an increase in the number of applications from college students to national service programs, said representatives from Teach For America and AmeriCorps, a national community service volunteer program.

Ahmadinejad drops Holocaust denial from speech

A day after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad caused an uproar with a speech attacking Israel at a U.N. conference on racism, the U.N. said Tuesday that Ahmadinejad had actually dropped language from the speech that described the Holocaust as “ambiguous and dubious.”
