Many courses at IU are taught by professors with sections taught by associate instructors. However, professors teaching the courses have authority over the students’ grades, and there are different steps the professors can take in setting a fair, even standard.

Kinsey Institute features annual Juried Art Show

While the Kinsey Institute for Research in Gender, Sexuality and Reproduction is more than condom studies, degrees in sexology and the advice column “Kinsey Confidential,” it is well-known for its vast collection of erotic art — portions of which are often on display in the Kinsey Gallery — and library materials. Besides the about 7,000 pieces of art in the official collection, the Institute will once again organize its annual Juried Art Show, kicking off with an opening reception Friday.

Former Hoosier linebacker Jammie Kirlew has signed a contract with the Denver Broncos after being picked in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Kirlew is the first of three Hoosiers drafted to sign a contract. His four-year deal is worth $1.84 million and contained a $50,000 signing bonus.

Nineteen-year-old Saavedra, driving for William Rast racing — a team Justin Timberlake sponsors — posted the slowest speed and was in 33rd place with only about an hour left of quals. But after a crash resulted in back pain, Saavedra was taken to get an MRI, and it looked as if his hope of qualifying was over.

Wildlife class to certify participants in first aid

Through an IU Outdoor Adventures class that will take place Saturday, students will become certified in wilderness first aid and learn all the techniques to take care of an injury or ailment, should one occur.

Faculty, staff gear up for fitness program

The first-time kick-off event was planned to get new and returning participants of Step Into Fitness excited for the program, said Megan Amadeo, associate director of personal training at IU Recreational Sports. The nine-week program from June 1 through July 31 is free to all IU faculty and staff members. Participants can register online throughout the program and will receive a pedometer, a nutrition tracker and maps of walking routes on campus.
