Monroe county commissioners declare flood emergency

The Monroe County Board of Commissioners declared Tuesday a state of disaster emergency throughout the county due to recent record flooding, according to a press release. The state of emergency is scheduled to last until May 20, unless the board votes to extend or cancel it.

City council member proposes county-wide 311 system

In an effort to increase the efficiency of local city and county government, Bloomington City Councilman Steve Volan has organized an interlocal study group to discern the feasibility and effectiveness of a possible 311 system for Bloomington and the surrounding communities.

Twin brothers Erick and Omar Gama, both IU students, were arrested with three other people Monday day in Indianapolis during a protest over immigration bills for allegedly trespassing in Gov. Mitch Daniels’ office, said David R. Bursten, first sergeant in the Indiana State Police Public Information Office.

Gov. Daniels signs bill defunding Planned Parenthood in Ind.

Gov. Mitch Daniels signed HEA 1210 today, a bill that, among other things, makes it illegal for Indiana to allocate federal funds to Planned Parenthood. He also signed 79 other bills.

BHS North students to head to Japan despite recent crisis

Archaeology professor to dedicate pirate shipwreck as 'Living Museum of the Sea'
