Students arrested for trespassing released from jail

All six individuals who were arrested during a protest over immigration bills Monday in Indianapolis have been released from Marion County Jail after an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement hold on their status was released.

Uriel and Erick Gama, IU students and twin brothers, were both released at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday. Ana Ruiz-Toyar was released at 3:53 a.m. Wednesday.

Guadalupe Pimental was released at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. Sayra Perez was released at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday. Idamarie Callazo was released at 4:39 a.m. Tuesday.

All were released on a $150 cash bond.

The Gama brothers, Ruiz-Toyar, Perez and Pimental were all arrested for allegedly trespassing Gov. Mitch Daniels' office while trying to stage a sit-in in protest of the two immigration-related bills, HB 1402 and SB 590. Callazo was arrested for resisting arrest.

The five arrested for allegedly trespassing are all scheduled to appear in court at 1p.m. today.
