CHAMPAIGN, Ill. ­— Three unanswered goals in the second half put an end to the IU women’s soccer team’s Big Ten Tournament Championship hopes Friday.The Hoosiers fell to Nebraska 3-1 in Champaign, Ill.

In February 1918, Flora Ruth and five other female students joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps.She would be the only one not to return.Ruth is one of 29 women who will be added to IU’s Golden Book today as part of the University’s efforts to commemorate Veterans Day.

Sophomore forward Jeremy Hollowell scored 16 points and blocked four shots, both career highs, to lead IU to a 100-72 victory in its season-opener against Chicago State on Friday night at Assembly Hall.

Noah Vonleh’s trips to the line were just a handful of the 55 shots the Hoosiers took at the line Friday night. Of those 55, IU sunk 45 to set a school record that was previously 43.

Couple assists foster children

Linda and Hugh Shanahan, established their own Bloomington-based project called Kids Do Matter, a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing care for foster children in the Bloomington area with events specifically designed for them.
