Man arrested for opening beer in store

A 48-year-old man opened a container of beer and started drinking it in Kroger Saturday.

Bloomington Police Department officers responded at about 7:40 a.m. to Kroger, 528 S. College Ave., for the report of a person consuming alcohol, BPD Lt. John Kovach said.

Officers arrived and made contact with Steven Weise, 48, who opened the beer in the store.

Weise said he had no money to pay for the beer, which was Dieselpunk Stout.

Weise was arrested for theft, Kovach said.
