Wake Forest player tranfers to IU

Tom Izzo rejects Cavaliers' offer

For the past nine days, Izzo has been trying to decide whether to leave the place that has been his home since 1983 and jump to the NBA to perhaps make $6 million — doubling his salary — and possibly coaching one of the best basketball players in the world.

Derek Drouin clinches second national championship in 2010

Sophomore Derek Drouin has managed to win not one, but two NCAA National Championships in the same year. The high jumper snagged the top spot during the 2010 Indoor National Championships and again at this past weekend’s 2010 Outdoor Championship in Eugene, Ore. Drouin is the first Hoosier to ever win indoor and outdoor titles in the same event and in the same calendar year.

Nebraska joins the Big Ten

Rumors have run rampant across the country about the reshuffling of conferences and which schools could end up as members of the Big Ten Conference. Could Texas come? Would Oklahoma follow? What about Missouri or Maryland? For now, only one school will definitely be joining the Big Ten: the University of Nebraska.

It’s only fitting that the NCAA hit the USC football program with a 2-year postseason ban, a loss of 30 scholarships, and a required vacancy of all wins from December 2004 to January 2006, after an investigation found former running back Reggie Bush received improper benefits from individuals outside the program.

Alex Martin makes field for 2010 US Open

As Alex Martin stood at the first tee on the Brookside Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio, he shook hands with his playing partner for the day, 2008 U.S. Open runner-up Rocco Mediate. Little did Martin know that 12 hours, 137 shots and three playoff holes later, he would be heading to Pebble Beach, marking the second consecutive year that a member of the IU men’s golf team would be represented at the U.S. Open.

Martin excels on course, in class

Martin, who recently qualified for the 2010 U.S. Open, was a two-time All-Big Ten selection during his college career. He also led the Hoosiers his senior year with a season scoring average of 72.33, the eighth-lowest in school history. Martin also received his second career medalist honors during his senior year with the Renaissance Intercollegiate individual title.

USA vs. England World Cup Preview

The 2010 version is also hotly anticipated, as ESPN has billed the match “the biggest game of the World Cup.” There is much more than a game at stake, as the winner between the two will most likely determine who wins Group C. The United States seems to have the upper hand in momentum, as it has put up two solid wins in its final games before World Cup action, defeating its opponents 5-2.

Dickerson reflects on success

Dickerson was the first player in IU history to win Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Big Ten Player of the Year in consecutive seasons. He was also part of the Second Team All-Big Ten, a third team All-Mideast Region selection, and a recipient of Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball and the National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association.
