For the IU women's basketball team, road play away from Assembly Hall has not been a strong point. The Hoosiers (9-12, Big Ten 2-9) fell yet again on the road Sunday afternoon to a strong No. 2 Ohio State Buckeye team, 78-46.

Davis opts to start 4 freshmen, a 1st for Hoosiers since the 1990 season

CHAMPAIGN, ILL. -- Sunday, IU basketball saw a sight that hadn't happened in 15 years -- four freshmen starting. The usual three Hoosier starters of D.J. White, Robert Vaden and A.J. Ratliff were joined by fellow freshman James Hardy, who took injured junior guard Bracey Wright's place in the starting lineup.

The impressionable Super Bowl viewer went to sleep Sunday night dreaming of beer, soda, movies and MC Hammer. With beautiful women, celebrities, a heavy dose of humor and a certain parachute-pants wearing former has-been, the Super Bowl commercials Sunday night peddled the wares of Budweiser, Diet Pepsi, Ameriquest and some of this summer's biggest upcoming blockbusters.

No surprises as IU struggles without leading scorer Wright

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Coming into Saturday's game, many IU fans wondered how the Hoosiers would play without their leading scorer, Bracey Wright. Eleven minutes and a 17-point deficit later, the faithful received their answer as IU fell behind 20-3 and went on to lose 60-47 against No. 1 Illinois.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- For the four starting IU freshmen, it looked like it was over before it started against top-ranked Illinois. The "baby Hoosiers" needed another 11 minutes and 21 seconds of warm-ups before they settled their nerves, calmed down and were ready to play Sunday afternoon.

On Thursday, Coach Ken Hydinger promised a "battle." On Saturday, his players got one. The IU men's tennis team lost an intense contest, 4-3, to Middle Tennessee State Saturday evening at the IU Tennis Center.

Hoosier season ends at Purdue; Big Ten next

The dual meet season comes to a close Saturday for Hoosier swimmers and divers as No. 15 Purdue hosts the Crimson and Gold Cup in West Lafayette. The No. 13 ranked IU men's swimming and diving team hopes to claim its 10th dual meet victory of the season. In doing so, the Hoosiers would capture their first 10-win dual meet season in 20 years.

IU gunning for NCAA qualifying marks

This weekend, the IU track team will travel its full contingent of athletes to Notre Dame for the Meyo Invitational. Aside from the Big Ten face-off against Purdue and Ohio State two weeks ago, the meet is IU's first true test. The Meyo Invitational is a focal point of the season for most teams in attendance as the meet consistently produces NCAA qualifying marks. IU must show more tenacity to get the job done, IU head coach Randy Heisler said.

2 ranked teams fill IU's home weekend

Ask the IU men's tennis team, and the players will tell you: Middle Tennessee State is underrated. The No. 57 Blue Raiders invade Bloomington Saturday for a match-up of two ranked teams in the IU Tennis Center. But the No. 67 Hoosiers claim that a No. 57 ranking just doesn't do MTSU justice.

The clink of the aluminum bats and the snap of a pitch hitting a leather glove fills the air as the softball team practices in Mellencamp Pavillion. Spring is finally approaching and with the season opener just days away, the IU softball team is preparing for their 2005 season.
