Despite the four-game lead Iowa has on IU, the teams are almost statistical reflections of one another. Other than Iowa’s daunting defensive statistics, the teams would appear to be on equal footing.

Crean pumps up supporters for upcoming season

IU coach Tom Crean was at the North End Zone facility Thursday for a tip-off pep rally. Six hundred and fifty Varsity Club donors, season ticket holders and other fans came to hear him speak and meet the 2009-2010 men’s basketball team. It was the fourth-annual pep rally, but the first in the North End Zone.

Dick Vitale, current ESPN analyst, tweeted earlier today that Bob Knight will not be in attendance at the IU Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony slated for Nov. 6.

Hoosiers face Hoosiers in wrestling intrasquad scrimmage

The IU wrestling team squared off against each other in their intrasquad meet at Bloomington North High School on Tuesday. While all starting spots were up for grabs, the two most competitive battles were in the 141- and at 157-pound weight classes.

IU Athletics Director Fred Glass confirmed today that football coach Bill Lynch will remain in his position as head coach of the IU football program at least until his contract expires in two years.
