What is this obsession with Thefacebook? For the 12 of you living in the basement of Ballantine who don't know what www.Thefacebook.com is, don't ask me because I don't get it.

Voters will not simply be selecting their preferred candidates Nov. 2. Three amendments to the Indiana Constitution are also on the ballot. Unlike the candidates, who may or may not return on their policy promises (either through their own doing or otherwise), the voters' decision is the final word on these three issues. Unfortunately, many voters are unaware that these amendments are even on the ballot, and still others are befuddled by their potentially complex wording.

Cursed no more

·

With each strike, with each out, the room crescendoed with "Let's go Red Sox" chants and cheering. By the time the third out in the ninth inning had been called, the room exploded with volume as the Boston Red Sox threw an 86-year old monkey off of its back.

Nomar not forgotten in Boston

·

Nomar Garciaparra recently got a gift from his playoff-bound former teammates in Boston -- a playoff share. Even though his 10-year relationship with the team ended at this year's trade deadline, his former teammates honored his contributions to the franchise, and he will be awarded about $200,000. After all, without him, it's doubtful the Red Sox would have ever won the World Series.

Roby breaking IU receiving records

·

Doing it humbly and through hard work is the only way senior wide receiver Courtney Roby has gotten as far as he has, and where he is at is on top of the IU receiving marks for both receptions and yards.

War paintings on display at Art Museum

·

Death, violence and torture are among the themes exhibited in Francisco Goya's print series, "The Disasters of War." The series, now on display at the IU Art Museum, is a chronicle of the Spanish artist's horrified reactions to the invasion of his country by Napoleonic troops during the Peninsular War of 1808-1814. Six etchings from the series will be displayed in the First Floor Gallery of Western Art throughout the fall semester.

'Onegin' a pleasant surprise

·

I have a confession to make: I did not plan on writing a positive review of Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin." I was fully prepared to lambaste the School of Music for even entertaining the idea of performing a Russian opera in English. I had drafted in my mind a cutting, though tactful, manifesto decrying those who would dare remove the beauty of Pushkin's poetry from its native language.

Students hold workshop teaching how to care for performance voices

·

Voice and vocal health are a big concern to IU music school students, but what about theater majors? Nurturing the voice takes a conscious effort that many theater students have yet to learn. To help students keep their voices healthy, the Care of the Acting Voice workshop will be held Saturday in room A201 of the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center.
