Who stole all the special features?

·

"Ocean's Twelve," Steven Soderbergh's recent follow-up to the 2001 remake, "Ocean's Eleven," was a box-office hit and now it's looking to gain some more cash on DVD. The hype and familiarity of a sequel always guarantees a good audience, and "Ocean's Twelve" didn't disappoint; mainly because Soderbergh didn't try to stray from the formula that proved successful in the first film.

Ask the advisor

·

Q: So what's the big deal about academic advising? Why is it so important?

Ask the advisor

·

Q: Why the new column? A few weeks ago I was talking with my advising colleagues (we do that a lot), and we thought a new outreach strategy might be a good public service to offer the campus community.

Mexico beats IU soccer 2-1

·

The Mexican U-17 National Team stopped IU's attempt at a perfect spring slate. Some of the Mexican players have experience playing professionally in Mexico, and they used that domestic and international experience by applying pressure and physical challenges early to IU as Mexico defeated the Hoosiers 2-1 in front of 3,472 fans Tuesday at Bill Armstrong Stadium.

Joseph Ratzinger served as long-time aide to John Paul II

·

VATICAN CITY -- Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany, the Roman Catholic Church's leading hard-liner, was elected pope Tuesday in the first conclave of the new millennium. He chose the name Benedict XVI and called himself "a simple, humble worker." Ratzinger, the first German pope in centuries, emerged onto the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica, where he waved to a wildly cheering crowd of tens of thousands and gave his first blessing.

Ball State piles up runs, rolls over Hoosiers 17-4

·

It has been more than two weeks since the IU baseball team has seen home. It seems that much time away from Sembower Field has taken a toll on the Hoosiers. IU was smothered by Ball State 17-4 Tuesday at Diamond Field. The 19-16 Hoosiers dropped their fourth game in their last five and come home with a 3-9 conference record heading into Big Ten play this weekend.

From organizing a senior citizens' prom to aiding in the care of kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington, the Volunteer Student Bureau is staying busy. Representation rights challenged

·

Students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences might be surprised to discover a different set of rules than the rest of the Bloomington campus if they violate the student codes of academic misconduct at IU. Matt Dattilo, associate director for public relations for the IU Student Association Department of Student Rights, is challenging COAS' policy, which does not allow advisers to speak on a student's behalf at a formal misconduct hearing.

The Roots rock hip-hop for everyone

·

In a Little 500 weekend which featured a race, a spring football game and my 21st birthday, the highlight for me was seeing my favorite hip-hop group: the Roots. The four-member band (rapper Black Thought, bassist Hub, keyboardist Kamal and drummer ?uestlove), performed Thursday night at the IU Auditorium in a welcome return to the annual Little 500 concert.

IU club sport athletes prepare for Midwest playoffs

·

On a cold, windy night April 11 at Evan Williams Field on 10th Street, the Hoosiers used crisp, direct passing and tough man-to-man defense to bring down Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 24-0. Their dominating performance was reminiscent of two weekends ago on a road trip in Illinois as they defeated Northwestern 16-0, Knox College (Illinois) 14-2 and shut out a group of Chicago University graduate students.

The crowd of 3,472 at Bill Armstrong Stadium created a festive atmosphere as many fans came to support both the Hoosier and Mexican squads. The usual Hoosier backers were out in full force. Talib Kweli wants you to stay in school. But if, like Kweli, you find you've missed out on what's going on in the real world, there's another education out there. The modern-day Tarzan and Jane are alive, well and living in Monroe County. Bloomington residents Tom and Cathy Haggerty prefer sipping their morning coffee and reading their daily newspaper, indeed, from the high-altitude comfort of two century-old oak trees sprouting out of their front yard on West 14th Street.
