In the first two-and-a-half months of each year, the Student Recreational Sports Center and the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation are packed with students trying to fulfill their New Year’s resolutions and get in shape for spring break. Right after New Year’s and the weeks leading up to spring break are usually the busiest times of the year, SRSC trainer and IU junior Josh Ryan said.

While many students exercise heavily leading up to spring break, the motivation level falls off for some when they return to school. For one, though, this was not the case, and she returned wanting to do more than stay in shape to look good on the beach.

Harry Potter goes jock

Intercollegiate Quidditch is sweeping the nation, one broomstick at a time. Originating from J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter,” the sport is turning the fantasy world of wizards into a reality. However, unlike Harry and his Hogwarts classmates, these mortal students cannot fly on their broomsticks and are thus getting quite the workout.

Team comes up short in return to home court

The No. 38 IU men’s tennis team returned to Bloomington Tuesday in search of its 11th win, but came up just short. In their final non-conference match of the year, the Hoosiers took on No. 39 Louisville (12-3) and lost 4-3.

Fresh off of a third-place finish in a spring break tournament, the IU baseball team (7-7) will carry it’s momentum to Evansville today as they battle the Evansville Purple Aces.
