Adam Shackelford's Jan. 27 letter to the editor, "Free trade propagates Cambodia conditions," does very little to explain current conditions in Cambodia. While Shackelford makes important arguments (with which I am sympathetic) about morally repugnant sweatshop conditions in the third world and the conditions that lead to them, he naively assumes that all of Cambodia's ills can be traced to the free trade policies that propagate sweatshops.
