Dia de los Muertos is celebrated each year on Nov. 1 and 2, when the veil between the living and the dead is believed to be the thinnest. On these days, it is believed the dead are most receptive to messages from the living.

Wright loses $11,000 in surplus funds

After a bill was passed to reallocate surplus funds, Wright Quad lost almost $11,000, which Ben Siebert, vice president of finance for Wright student government, said was going to pay for a 60th anniversary party.

Haunted Hall of Hoops

IU plays in Halloween-themed scrimmage

Superman, Optimus Prime and Hannah Montana came to Assembly Hall on Saturday. At the Haunted Hall of Hoops, children trick-or-treated with the IU men’s basketball team. Dressed in costumes, children came with their parents to meet the team and watch a scrimmage afterward.

100th birthday honors violin legend

“Josef Gingold: A 100th Birthday Celebration for a Musical Legend” took place at the IU Auditorium on Sunday. The orchestra accompanied Jacobs faculty members Joshua Bell and Jaime Laredo at the birthday performance. The Jacobs School of Music’s Violin Virtuosi also performed.

The Lambuth University Eagles were the 2006-07 NAIA National Champions and made it to the Sweet Sixteen in the following season, but that didn’t stop the Hoosiers from dominating them in their first exhibition match Sunday.

IU fails to handle adversity again

In a 42-24 loss at Iowa, the Hoosiers, for the second consecutive week, saw a comfortable lead disappear and a previously dominated game lost. Again, the game featured an unstoppable IU team in the first half and a group of patsies in the second.

Dylan returns to Bloomington

Dylan will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at the IU Auditorium. The show will be part of what his fans have called the “Never Ending Tour,” which began in 1988. He has played more than 100 shows every year since 1994.
