Musician Ethan Gruska released his first solo album, "Slowmotionary" this year, creating raw and intimate music in a world that he said can feel so loud. Gruska will be Ray LaMontagne's special guest Nov. 4 at the IU Auditorium. His simplistic sound has gained recognition from publications such as the Los Angeles Times. One article included the headline, "L.A.'s next great writer? It might be Ethan Gruska." Gruska spoke to the Indiana Daily Student about releasing his first album and defining his sound.

The 60th Grammy Awards doesn't take place until Jan. 28, 2018, but the award show competition has already begun. According to the Grammy Awards website, the entry period to be considered for the 2018 Grammys ends on Sept. 30. Many artists are releasing albums particularly close to this date, making us wonder what musicians already have the coveted award show on their minds. Just like Leonardo DiCaprio wanted that Oscar, there are several artists who are clearly in it to win it. We are breaking down music that has been released or is releasing this fall, and how badly we think these artists want a 2018 Grammy award in their hands.

Muralist and 19-year Bloomington resident Eva Allen said she only dreamed that her sketch on a eight-and-a-half-by-11-inch piece of paper would be displayed on the wall in Peoples Park. That hope became a reality, and she is now the artist behind the new mural that reads "Bloomington" on the side of the Bicycle Garage. We spoke with Allen, 43, about how she came across the opportunity to paint one of Bloomington's most well-known spots and what people can expect the finished wall to look like.

On Aug. 28, IU announced in a press release that actor and director Danny Glover canceled his visit to IU, which was scheduled for Sept. 17. The press release said Glover is unable to come to Bloomington due to unexpected circumstances related to his filming schedule.
