In the first play of IU’s final drive as the team trailed 36-33, Michigan cornerback Donovan Warren wrestled the ball out of IU wideout Damarlo Belcher’s hands as the two players fell to the ground.
As I'm working on a story for Monday's paper, I wanted to see if there were any similar situations in the past that mirrored the Donovan Warren interception in Saturday's game. Here are two examples (posted as training clips by Mid-Missouri region officials) that look very familiar to the Chappell-to-Belcher/Warren pass. Junior quarterback Ben Chappell was 5 months old the last time IU beat Michigan.
Michigan is adjusting its security measures for Saturday's football game against Indiana, according to the team's Web site. No bags of any size will be permitted "including purses, lunch sacks, binocular cases, fanny packs and diaper bags."
It's not uncommon for "points of emphasis" actually being emphasized early in the season. And this year is no exception as there's an interesting trend developing this year in the Big Ten. Just today, the conference suspended Purdue offensive lineman Zach Reckman for one game following a cheap shot late hit (check it out on YouTube) at the end of the Boilers' loss to Northern Illinois last week.

IU coach Bill Lynch brought in referees and piped crowd noise inside Mellencamp Pavilion during practice this week to prepare his team for its first road game at Akron this Saturday.
The IU-Michigan game will air on ESPN or ESPN2, according to a press release from the media relations department. The game will kickoff at noon Sept. 26 at Ann Arbor.
