Michigan is adjusting its security measures for Saturday's football game against Indiana, according to the team's Web site. No bags of any size will be permitted "including purses, lunch sacks, binocular cases, fanny packs and diaper bags."
"While we have not received information of any specific threats, we have consulted with federal officials and athletics personnel and believe it is appropriate to adjust some of our security protocols for this Saturday," Charlie Noffsinger, University of Michigan Department of Public Safety Deputy Chief, said in the announcement. "By prohibiting all bags into the Stadium, we allow our law enforcement personnel to focus their attention on other security measures in order to ensure a safe environment for all."
The Detroit Free Press mentioned the recent arrest in Colorado relating to a terrorism investigation has sparked national warnings.
Here are some other game notes:
Homecoming
This game is Michigan's homecoming game. Surprisingly, Michigan has struggled (relatively speaking) in homecoming games since 2002 with a 4-3 record. However, the last time IU beat Michigan in Ann Arbor was a Wolverines homecoming game. That was 1967.
Tickets
Despite it being homecoming, the game has not sold out. Tickets are still being sold through the MGoBlue athletics Web site.
