Nathan Hart takes a look at a variety of topics surrounding Big Ten basketball.
Maybe the references get old. You can only say the “Butler did it” line about once per year and the whole David vs. Goliath thing has been used up. Even the “Hoosiers” comparisons — which are eerily similar — are so 2010. I mean, really, what’s left to say about the Butler Bulldogs?
Well, that’s it. IU’s season is over. Maybe mercifully and maybe for the best. The 2010-11 IU basketball season has faded into oblivion.
In Triple Threat, IDS men’s basketball columnist Nathan Hart will look at three issues concerning IU, the Big Ten or college basketball in general.
When exactly did the season end? I’m not sure. It’s impossible to point to any one date and say, “Aha. That’s it. That’s when this thing ended!”
There are probably a few ways to look on Jeremiah Rivers’ career as an IU basketball player. Yes, some good, some very good and some that didn’t quite reach expectations. But Thursday night was Rivers’ Senior Night, and as the team’s only true senior, it was (more or less) his alone.
It’s a question that’s been tossed around more and more as IU’s season ends with a whimper. Is this year’s team really no better than it was last year?

If sophomores Tony Adragna and Zach Litzelswope have any say, then organized chants will soon be filling Assembly Hall.
After Saturday’s 70-64 loss to Northwestern, IU coach Tom Crean, who appeared as disappointed as he’s ever been this season after a loss, wanted his team back to practice as soon as possible.
That wonderful little word “it,” at least in the IU basketball dictionary, could be lots of different things. Ultimately, it means winning basketball games.
Twitter is a funny thing. It's been used to tell college students about laundry room availability, to tell stories (one agonizing tweet at a time), and to target former teammates (more or less).
The IU basketball team is 12-3 at Assembly Hall and 0-11 away from it this season. What happens when the team leaves Bloomington that makes it so tough for the Hoosiers to win?

Although IU almost overcame a double-deficit at Michigan on Saturday, the first 35 minutes cannot be overlooked.
Indiana vs. Michigan
The Watford-less Hoosiers struggled to contain the play of Purdue's JaJuan Johnson and E'Twaun Moore in IU's 67-53 loss at Purdue.
In one sense, it could be easy to accept IU’s 64-63 loss to Iowa. It’s injuries. It’s, for whatever reason, a bad matchup. It’s a hard-fought one-point loss. As IU coach Tom Crean said after the game, this team is lacking warm bodies for practice time.
