"When I first saw Raas, they said make sure you are moving your head and body with energy," Sridhr told the students. "It's a high-energy dance and that's what captures the audience's attention."

Worn American flags are prepared to be ceremoniously burned at American Legion Post 18. More than 100 flags were retired during the ceremony on Veterans Day. Post 18 collects the flags from the community throughout and holds several ceremonies. “We collect them all year, tattered or torn,” Richard Dunbar, commander of American Legion Post 18 said.

Nitish Kulkarni, a senior at IU, recorded his debut album Synesthetic this summer through EverSound Music. The album, produced by John Adorney, will be released this fall.
In the past six years, IU President Michael McRobbie has structurally and academically transformed campus. Seven schools have been created, consolidated or closed. “It all started with me,” McRobbie said, chuckling, in his first sit-down interview with the Indiana Daily Student since he became president.
The 20,000 pansies planted on campus began as half-inch seedlings in IU Nursery greenhouses. Pansies have been the first flower planted each spring for more than a decade, nursery manager Marshall Goss said.
For seven weeks, more than 27,000 pansies grew in IU Nursery greenhouses. This year planting was delayed a week due to cold temperatures and frozen ground.

Elin Suleymanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States, visited IU on Wednesday. During his visit, Suleymanov met with representatives from the School of Global and International Studies and spoke on the future of Azerbaijan. "I thoroughly enjoyed my visit," he said. "I'm impressed by the leadership and vision at Indiana University."
