Six Indiana baseball players and three incoming Hoosier freshmen were selected in the three-day, 20-round Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, which took place July 14-16 in Arlington, Texas. No Big Ten school had more players selected than Indiana. This marks the third time in head coach Jeff Mercer’s six-year tenure that Indiana has had six or more players picked in the same draft.

Indiana baseball alum and Arizona Diamondbacks left-handed pitcher Andrew Saalfrank has been banned from Major League Baseball for one year, the league announced Tuesday. Saalfrank is one of five players banned for wagering on MLB games, directly violating league rules.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee showed why it is the heavy favorite to win the College World Series when it squared off against Indiana on Saturday night. Despite being the designated road team in their home ballpark, Tennessee gave its fans plenty to cheer about as they continued their march to a regional title by thrashing Indiana 12-6.
