Computer Magic; The Bishop

Monday, 9 PM

You can get a pretty good sense of Computer Magic just by the name. Electronica space-beats pervade this project by New York Catskills native Danielle Johnson. Even so, Computer Magic still has the ability to conjure something other than quasi-Tron beeps and bops. The title track from the EP "Hiding From Our Time" uses a bevy of sounds, from the clicking of typewriters to an organ arpeggio transposed cross-circuits, to keep the listener on his or her toes. As for Johnson's lyrics, they are warmly personable and are combined with a peculiar vocal soar that borrows from The Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan. This strange act, ironically paired with the neanderthalic acoustic musician: Caveman, will be blasting off tomorrow night at the Bishop.
