Pterodactyl's third album "Spills Out," has a disjointed sound, which appears to draw influence from almost every genre of music. This band is not afraid to experiment with sound, and "bizarre" might be the best adjective to describe the album.

The result is interesting to say the least; it could be compared to Modest Mouse, but has a distinctive edge that sets it apart. However, the schizophrenic nature of the composition makes the album hard to listen to at some points.

The track "Allergy Shots" has a trippy feel, with distorted overlapping vocals and refrain echoing "the grass isn't greener." The vocals have a haunting feeling, lending credence to the song's expression of both anxiety and a longing for something better.

Perhaps the most arresting aspect of the band's music is the novel vocal arrangements. For those attending the show at The Bishop, it should be interesting to see how the band translates their recorded sound to a live venue.

One thing is for certain: you won't get bored listening to Pterodactyl.
