- Freshman forward Troy Williams led IU scorers with a career-high of 22 points. He started off his night with an uncharacteristic long-range 2-pointer from the left wing to boost IU's 9-0 start, and he scored eight points in the final seven minutes of the first half to end the first 20 minutes with 13 - matching his career-high he set against Chicago State. He also pulled down eight rebounds and had a stellar shooting night from the field and the line, hitting 8-for-12 from the field and 6-for-7 from the line.
Crean on Williams' performance: "He got better as the game went on, and I think he's been getting better really since he's gotten more comfortable having both hands."
- Fellow freshman Noah Vonleh failed to pull down a double-double for the first time in his college career, scoring 18 points and nine rebounds. Even though he was one board short of the mark, Vonleh was powerful in the post, often pulling down missed shots during a few stints where the Hoosiers struggled from the field and turned them into put-back dunks.
- Together, the IU freshmen combined to shoot 19-for-27 from the field and scored more than half of IU's points (53).
Lone senior Will Sheehey said that he was pleasantly surprised at how his young teammates fared playing under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden: "I think tonight I was a little bit surprised on how well and how poised they (the young players) were with this atmosphere. Not only was it our first road game, but it was also in probably one of the most hectic places in the world. So, those guys really brought it today and I was really proud of them."
- Sophomore guard Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell scored 20 points and dished out five assists against the Huskies - his third-straight 20-point performance this season. He's the first Hoosier with three 20-point performances in a row since Verdell Jones did so against Illinois, Purdue and Northwestern in 2010.
- The Hoosiers shot over 50 percent for the third-straight game, making 34-of-66 shots (51.5 percent). IU Coach Tom Crean's squad also held their own from the charity stripe, nailing 31-of-36 attempts from the line. IU's bench was a perfect 12-for-12 from the line. The Hoosiers also lead the nation currently, with scoring 29.5 points per game from the free throw line.
