The offseason is in full swing for IU Coach Curt Miller and the women's basketball team, but here is some recent news, in case you missed it.

Sasha Chaplin granted sixth year of eligibility

"Grandma" is back for another year.

Redshirt-senior center Sasha Chaplin has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA, the IU athletic department announced Friday.

Chaplin, nicknamed "Grandma" by her teammates because of how long she's been with the program, will play for IU in 2013-14. She has dealt with a variety of injuries that cut two of her first three seasons short.

Chaplin tore her ACL eight games in to her freshman season in 2008 and missed the remainder of the season, taking a medical redshirt. She appeared in 20 games the following season, making 16 starts.

During the 2010-11 season, Chaplin re-tore her ACL while recovering from a stress fracture and played in just two games.

Finally healthy, Chaplin played in 59 of IU's 60 games the past two seasons. She started 24 of the 30 games she appeared in during the 2011-12 season. A key reserve in 2012-13, Chaplin was second on the team with a 45.2 shooting percentage while averaging 6.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. She started eight of the 29 games she played in.

Chaplin is working towards a graduate degree in human computer interaction and design from the School of Informatics.

Buss receives Illinois Ms. Basketball Award

2014 IU women's basketball verbal commit Tyra Buss received her Illinois Ms. Basketball award this past weekend at the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Banquet at Illinois State University's Bone Student Center.

For the season, Buss averaged 38.9 points, 6.0 steals, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
