For the first time in the Tom Crean era, fans are not only talking about the NCAA Tournament but are starting to crunch numbers in finding out were the Hoosiers might be seeded come Selection Sunday.
In Joe Lunardi's Bracketology that came out earlier this week he had the Hoosiers as a 2-seed with seven Big Ten teams making the tournament.
IU might have the best combination of two marquee wins of any team in the nation with the wins over Kentucky and Ohio State. Yes, the loss to Minnesota won't look good on the resume but the Hoosiers still have chances to get some quality wins away from home over the next month and a half.
Follow the jump for a look at how IU's non-conference slate is doing this season with just one game against North Carolina Central remaining. The records only include Division 1 teams.
Stony Brook is 8-6 and 4-0 in the America East. The Sea Wolves have an RPI of 177 and along with Maine, Stony Brook has a real shot to earn the automatic bid out of the America East.
Chattanooga is 5-9 and 2-2 in the Southern Conference. The Mocs have an RPI of 261 and is in a very competitive conference. The good news for the Mocs is they are in the division opposite Charleston and Davidson but still will have to go through those two teams to be dancing come March.
Evansville is 6-8 and 2-3 in the Missouri Valley. The Purple Aces have an RPI of 148 and even though the game wasn't much of a hostile environment it still goes down as a road game on the Hoosiers resume. The Missouri Valley should once again earn multiple bids but Evansville will have to win Arch Madness to make the tourney.
Savannah State is 6-9 and 3-1 in the Mid-Eastern Conference. SSU has an RPI of 199 and should battle it out with Norfolk State for the MEAC automatic bid.
Gardner Webb is 7-9 and 4-2 in the Big South. The Runnin' Bulldgos have an RPI of 247.
Butler is 8-8 and 3-2 in a very competitive Horizon League. The Bulldogs have an RPI of 97 RPI and did beat Purdue and Stanford away from Hinkle Fieldhouse
N.C. State is 12-5 and 1-1 in the ACC. The Wolfpack have no real marquee wins besides a neutral court win against Texas, and suffered a bad loss on Wednesday when they lost at home to Georgia Tech.
Stetson is 6-9 and 4-2 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Hatters have an RPI of 244 and are just behind Belmont and Mercer in the Atlantic Sun.
Kentucky is 16-1 and 2-0 in the SEC. The Wildcats have an RPI of 9 but won't play a ranked team until Feb. 7.
Notre Dame is 11-6 and 3-1, in the Big East. The Irish have an RPI of 100 and have been an early surprise in the Big East winning at No. 10 Louisville on Saturday.
Howard 3-14 and 1-4 in the Mid-Eastern Conference. The Bison have an RPI of 302 and are in the same conference as Savannah State.
UMBC is 2-14 and 1-3 in the America East. The Retrievers have an RPI of 321.
