The IU men's swimming and diving team (2-2) never found their comfort zone in the pool on Saturday, as the Hoosiers fell to Michigan 216-84, and Texas 217.5-82.5, in the double dual-meet held in Ann Arbor, Mich.
After going winless in last night's 16-event exhibition meet, the Hoosiers garnered only one win in the 16 events held today. Junior Zac Nees was the one of the lone bright spots for the team, as he recorded a career-high and fourth school-best 408.95 in the 1-meter dive competition, winning over sophomore Darian Schmidt, who took second. In addition, junior Mick Dell'Orco recorded a score of 348.45 in the 3-meter dive event, good enough for a second-place finish, while Schmidt earned third with a score of 341.45.
The Hoosiers took only one other top three finish for the whole meet, getting third place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:31.12, raced by junior Daniel Kanorr, sophomores James Wells and Cody Miller and freshman Steve Schmuhl.
Next up for IU will be Penn State (2-1) and Virginia (0-1) from Nov. 18-19 in State College, Pa., in their third double dual-meet of the season. They will also face Michigan again on January 7, in a dual-meet in Ann Arbor.
