For the most part, it has been an unentertaining spring on the IU football front.

We only get to watch practice for 25 minutes a practice, twice a week -- and most of that time consists of stretching.

But Tuesday's practice had several interesting moments:

  • During the part of practice open to the media, wide receiver Damarlo Belcher made a catch on the sideline and then accidentally ran over the cameraman for IU Athletics. The camera went to the ground and Belcher landed on top of the cameraman, his helmet hitting the poor guy's chest.

When it was over, coach Kevin Wilson ran over to Belcher, gave him a chest bump and yelled "that's the first guy you've knocked over all spring!"

  • During his interview after practice, Wilson said the team had a lot of energy in practice and suggested it may have been because of the Lil Wayne concert later that night at Assembly Hall.

"I may have to do a cameo and smoke with him," Wilson joked. "I think he was at my wedding. I have to pay homage."

When asked what his favorite Lil Wayne song is, Wilson quickly said "I don't know. My daughter knows."

Make of that what you will, but I think it's a sign Wilson is getting comfortable in his new surroundings. He's probably excited to get his first spring behind him and turn his focus to the actual season in the fall.

As far as the spring game is concerned on Saturday, I think it will be an interesting one to see. I am curious to see what Wilson's offense looks like and see how coach Mike Ekeler and Doug Mallory are changing the defense.
