In its first home game in four and a half months, the IU men's soccer team looked crisp and quick in its game against Evansville.

The Hoosiers took 27 minutes to score their first goal before going on to score one more goal before half time. Senior Alec Purdie led the five goals night when he knocked in the first off an assist from freshman Nikita Kotlov.

For the first 45 minutes, starting goalkeeper Luis Soffner defended a quiet box with no saves and no goals.

In the second half, sophomore Joe Tolen came off the bench to score two straight IU goals just 2:01 apart. The second goal came off a penalty kick.

The Hoosiers scored four unanswered goals until a cross near the three by an Evansville defender to his teammate gave the Aces their first goal in the 50th minute.

Purdie scored his last game goal on Jerry Yeagley Field off an assist from Tolen.

IU's next game is on Tuesday against IUPUI at the IU Soccer Practice Field that lies directly west of Jerry Yeagley Field.
