Indiana senior Andy Adlard was drafted 48th by the Columbus Crew in the Supplemental Draft that was held today.

The former IU soccer forward wasn't drafted in the inital MLS SuperDraft that took place on Thursday when his teammates, junior Will Bruin and senior Rich Balchan, were drafted 11th and 12th to the Houston Dynamo and Columbus Crew, respectively. According to the MLS' website, Adlard didn't have a strong enough experience at the Combine to push him into the SuperDraft lineup.

Adlard will join Balchan in Columbus, home of their Indiana coach Todd Yeagley. Yeagley spent seven years with the Crew.

During his time in an IU jersey, Adlard appeared in all 67 matches between his sophomore and senior years. The forward scored his seventh and final goal in the team's final game of the season, a 2-1 loss to Akron, the eventual national champions.

The Supplemental Draft reappeared in 2011 after it wasn't used in 2009 and 2010. It is used for those who don't go in the initial rounds of the SuperDraft from college or any player in the US Soccer Leagues.
