After witnessing IU's 36-34 victory over Arkansas State, I began to look forward at the Hoosiers' upcoming schedule.
Away against Illinois, Wisconsin and Purdue. Home vs. Northwestern and Iowa. In Landover, Mary. against Penn State.
Many of these games appear winnable on the surface. The Illini are 3-3 and look beatable, even on the road. Northwestern has played and soft schedule and lost to Purdue. Penn State has looked incredibly mediocre, especially after the Nittany Lions were blasted by Illinois.
And Purdue, well, it's Purdue. The Boilers are without starting QB Robert Marve and star wideout Keith Smith for the remainder of the season. And yet, they are 2-0 in conference play.
Are these games really winnable though? The Hoosiers' defense has looked atrocious to this point in the season and I'm not sure it can stop any Big Ten offense. If I had to pick right now, I would say IU beats Northwestern and Purdue to finish 6-6.
I could very easily see this team finishing 7-5 or 4-8, though. That many games are truly up in the air.
What do you think? Is this a bowl team? Is this a 4-8 team? Will Bill Lynch be the IU coach after this season (random, I know)?
