The father and brother of IU freshman tight end Paul Phillips were on a small plane that crashed late Monday in Alaska. Phillips' father, Bill Sr., was one of five killed in the crash while his brother, Willy, was one of four survivors.
"The thoughts and prayers of the entire Indiana University community are with Paul, his family and everyone touched by this tragedy,'' Lynch said. "Please be respectful of the family as they deal with this private matter.''
Phillips is in Darnestown, Md. to be with his family, according to Terry Hutchens of The Indianapolis Star.
Phillips spent three years at Georgetown Prep and was a first team all-state selection last season.
