For the past two years, IU assistant coach Jaime Broce has been the teacher with sophomore Chase Wright being the student. However, Coach Broce had a front row seat for Wright's turn to be the teacher at this week's Indiana Open. Wright's four round total of 15-under par 273 was good enough for a two-shot victory over Broce.

The player and coach arrived to the 18th tee Friday afternoon tied for the lead after Wright had just double bogeyed the 17th hole. After Broce's second shot landed in the water hazard, Wright hit his approach on the green and sank the 20-foot birdie putt for the victory.

After getting off to a slow start in the opening round, Wright fired rounds of 68, 67 and 67 to close out the tournament.

For Wright it was sweet redemption at the Legends Golf Course in Franklin, Ind. Wright was twice the runner-up at IHSAA State Golf Finals which were also played at the Legends.

The summer schedule for the Muncie, Ind., native will continue next week when he plays in the United States Amateur Public Links.
