Yesterday FIFA announced their award winners for the Golden Ball (Tournament MVP), Golden Boot (Tournament leading goal scorer), Golden Glove (Best Goalkeeper), Best Young Player Award (Best player 21 years or younger), and the FIFA Fair Play Award (Team with the least yellow and red cards).
The winner of the Golden Ball is Uruguay's Diego Forlan.
Forlan finished with five goals and an assist, and was one of the most dynamic players of the tournament, scoring a few impressive goals and helping lead Uruguay to their first semi-final appearence in 40 years.
The winner of the Golden Boot is Germany's Thomas Muller.
The 20 year old Muller finished tied atop the leaderboard with five goals, but his three assists helped give him the edge in the tiebreaker. His play was a huge reason for Germany finishing in third.
The winner of the Golden Glove is Spain's Iker Casillias.
Casillias and Spain allowed just two goals in the tournament, tied for the least ever with Italy in the 2006 World Cup, and a huge part of the steller defense was brilliant saves and work by Casillias.
The winner of the Best Young Player Award is Germany's Thomas Muller.
Muller takes home his 2nd piece of hardware at the 2010 World Cup. Just 365 years ago, he was getting ready for his first season with the first team of Bayern Munich. And now he is a national hero.
The winner of the FIFA Fair Play Award is Spain.
Spain had just eight yellow cards in seven games, and no red cards. Also five of those cards came in the final match against the Netherlands.
