The IU women's golf team shot a 318 in round 1 at the NCAA Central Regional in Columbus, Ind. The NCAA Central Regional is being held at Otter Creek Golf Course and the scores at the Central Regional were the highest of the three regionals.
Leading the way for the Hoosiers was Senior Laura Noctha and freshman Jackie Yanch, who both shot 78 respectively.
One shot higher than Nochta and Yanch is senior Kellye Belcher, who is in 52nd place individually.
Freshman Pam Burneski played the last eight holes in two over par and finished round one with an 83.
Fellow freshman Kate Coons ended day one with an 86.
The Hoosiers currently sit 9 shots outside of the eighth spot, which is the cut off for teams moving onto the NCAA Championships on May 18.
Coons will lead the Hoosiers off the back nine Friday morning when she tees off at 8:55. IU will tee off in nine minute intervals after Coons during the second round.
IU's score should be lower on Friday because they will be teeing off in the morning and will avoid most of the wind that they had to deal with this afternoon.
