Sophomores Andy Bayer and Derek Drouin, as well as junior Sarah Pease, have been named Big Ten Track and Field Athletes of the Week.
These awards have become routine for the Hoosiers who are succeeding in the early going of the outdoor season. The awards were based on their performances this past weekend at the Border Battle in Louisville, Ky.
Bayer won both the 1500 meter and 800 meter, Drouin (an indoor NCAA champion in the high jump) won the high jump and 110 meter hurdles and Pease won the 3,000 meter race, good for her first Big Ten Athlete of the Week award. Here is the release from IU Athletics.
